Keeping Life Protected From Threats

While the threat of natural hazards and harmful pollutants loom large over coastal communities and society as a whole, there are ways to protect against some of the more severe damage caused by these events. Research is needed in order to optimise the techniques and equip them in the places that need them most, but the protection of life is the most important thing.

Work cross-collaboratively with international partners, NOC works to find solutions that suit the communities most affected by hazards. Whether that's utilising technical knowledge, deploying marine autonomy, or even empowering communities to find solutions.

NOC's Hazards and Pollution Mission

Coastal zones are home to some of the world’s most densely populated areas. These regions rely on the ocean not just for food and livelihoods, but also for essential offshore infrastructure that supports entire industries, global trade and communications.
