Mitigating the Effects of Climate Change
The ocean is undergoing rapid change due to the increased impact of climate change, with global temperatures rising, widespread polar ice melting resulting in record sea level rise, and changes in the very fabric of the ocean having negative impacts of marine life and biodiversity.
The ability to help plan and act against these global problems relies on collaboration and knowledge exchange. NOC's research aims to reach every corner of the planet and work with partners from across marine science to further understand these changes that are happening to our ocean, and work towards ensuring these changes can be managed.
NOC's Climate Mission
Studying the ocean helps us understand what’s happening to our climate, where tipping points may be reached, and how the impacts will unfold across the globe—from rising sea levels to shifting weather extremes.
